The Governing Board

From the Desk of Governing Board.....

MES Indian School, the pioneer and torch bearer among Indian expatriate schools, has been in existence for almost four decades. The school offers great academic opportunities and quality of education to the Indian expatriate community in Qatar. The hallmark of the school is academic excellence and in its pursuit the school has achieved appreciation and recognition from both within Qatar and abroad. The School’s academic needs and extra-curricular activities are ably aided by more than 700 teaching and non-teaching staff. MES Indian School also prides in being the first school in Doha-Qatar with ISO 9001 certification.

MES Indian School-Qatar was founded and established in the year 1974 by eighty seven expatriate Indian Muslims (*), hailing from the State of Kerala and belonging to various streams and strata of the society in Qatar. The School had a humble beginning in a rented building at Al Salata, Doha with around 150 students and 6 teaching staff besides the Principal (late) Mrs. Zubaida Meeran. With the establishment of MES Indian School-Qatar, the first Indian expatriate school in Qatar came into existence. In subsequent years, the school grew in size and number of students. The Government of Qatar was kind enough to allot land to the founder members at Abu Hamour. In 1983, CBSE affiliation followed by construction of new buildings in the government allotted land with the most modern educational infrastructure under the Principal (late) Mr. B.K. Mohamed Kunhi at the helm came into being.

Men made MES…MES makes a man’ is a motto coined by a former student (Sweety Abraham) of the school during the silver jubilee celebrations in 1999. This motto in its totality sums up the vision and commitment of the 87 founder members of the institution and the dedication and wholehearted efforts of the staff in the overall development of Indian expatriate students in Qatar and thereby the mankind as a whole.

(*) The names of the Founder Members and their Successors are maintained in the Register of Members maintained in the School.
